Denmark s Gambling Regulator Starts License Application Process

screenshot of The good news about the gambling market in Denmark: the country’s regulator has launched the license application process for brick-and-mortar casinos. Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s Gambling Authority, has announced that it starts the period, during which land-based gambling establishments will be allowed to put in a request for a license. The opportunity will be available to operators until next year, specifically, January 29. How will the procedure go? Such state institutions as ministries, municipalities, police, and the Danish Maritime Authority will consider applicants, depending on their field of operation. The regulator will examine an operator based on its financial and gambling services capability. For example, it will check whether a company has the experience connected with land-based gambling and the necessary financial background for operation. It is worth mentioning that casinos on ships also have the right to apply for a license. Operators that will fit all the requirements will be able to become license holders for ten years. At the current time, the country has eight active licensees, two of which provide gambling services on ferries. According to the latest reports, Danish land-based GGR has decreased considerably because of the pandemic. New operators entering the market may improve the situation.
